FLOW: Northside Arts Crawl
The 5th Annual FLOW Northside Arts Crawl will take place on Saturday, July 24th, 2010 from 3PM to 8PM.
Come FLOW down West Broadway for the 5th Annual Celebration of hundreds of unique Northside Artists. Come to look, listen, make, taste, move and buy Northside! Highlights include:
Penn Cluster
- Fire & Ice FLOW shuttle stop & parking
- Beer Tasting & BBQ at BLO
- 5 Points Lounge for food, beer & wine and the FLOW afterparty
- Black Storytellers Alliance, Hollywood Studio of Dance, Tru Art Speaks (multi-discliplinary collaboration) and the blues/jazz of Cash & Carry on the 5 Points stage
- Fringe Favorites share the Capri stage with the Capri Big Band
- Homewood Gallery’s 1×1xOne Youth Art Exhibit Opening Reception and art making activity

Emerson Cluster
- Sit in the 1200 patio and enjoy food from El Amin’s Fish House at the KMOJ stage
- KMOJ hosts a wide range of local performance including Deliverance for Youth Gospel Choir, Half Pintz Drill Team, Backpack Kids Dance Crew, Young Daddy and other hip-hop, R&B, soul, rap, dance and spoken word artists. Headliners include national acts CG WHATIT DEW & AK of DO OR DIE
- Take a break at the Bean Scene II back lot BBQ in the 1101 Building and listen to Gospel with David White & Company in the 1101 Lot
- Celebrate Juxtaposition Arts 15th Anniversary with it’s new Neighbor, Urban Homeworks. Enjoy community artmaking, real-time painting demonstration, live t-shirt printing, new pocket park, birthday cake and art by students
- Keep your eye out for the Open Eye Figure Theater bicycle and their 2-Wheel Tour of “Parade of Oddities” impromtu 5 minute performances in the Emerson Cluster
- Emerge Community Development Center to see Images from the University of Minnesota’s Givens Collection of African American Literature on loan from the Urban Research & Outreach/Engagement Center
- See Maureen Trepp as Gratia Countryman at the newly named Emerge Community Technical Center, also enjoy tours and a historical slideshow
- Make Art with Free Arts Minnesota as they exhibit artwork from Northside youth at the Cookie Cart or try an aerosol art activity with Elijah Benson at the KMOJ stage

Lyndale Cluster
- To kick off their newly launched, “Build Your Own Six Pack” area, Merwin Liquors will be offering a free craft beer tasting from around the world
- Visit Sandy’s Wagon for a bite to eat at the Cub Foods Stage and support the community
- Cub Foods reverberates with traditional West African rhythms, movements, and songs of Voice of Culture, MC Phonetic One and his live band blending hip hop with rock/jazz and the Urban Hip Hop Music of 1 Way Entertainment featuring XROSS, KJ, Mariaha Markel, Sammy McDowell, and Courtland with a Gospel message of hope
- Stay at the Cub Foods Stage for the Apollo-style Let It FLOW Youth Talent Show Finals (with a final round of auditions at 1:00 on Saturday)
- Celebrate college-bound Northside Youth with our city officials at the Keep the Knowledge FLOWing recognition ceremony also at Cub
Lundstrum Cluster
- At the Lundstrum Center for Performing Arts, in addition to their own youth showcase, you can enjoy performances on the Northside Arts Collective Stage with Camden School of Music, Asian Storytellers Alliance, Lao Culture Center Dancers, and end the evening with the smooth sounds of Wenso Ashby
- Lundstrum Center hosts Northpoint Health & Wellness’ s Photovoice Photography Project. Youth documentary photos on healthy eating and living in North Minneapolis to promote a healthy lifestyle
- Northside Artists: Beverly Cottman, Bill Cottman, Amy Egengerger, Christopher Harrison, Dan Hylton, Barry Kleider, Naima Richmond, and a bookmark making with Beverly Cottman at Lundstrum Center
